It was the day I was crowned Miss Asian UCO...
To some people, pageants are all about beauty, a little knowledge, and nothing else. I, myself, disagree completely. I am not beautiful, so there, that thought is already proven wrong. I am also not exceptionally smart like many others, I just have a heart I believe can give love and ask nothing in return.
If I had a wish I would wish for every single girl who competed with me to win. Each of them has something very special to offer, each of them is wonderfully created in an unique way, and I love them all for that very reason.
The pageant, its result, and the whole year of reigning gave me an opportunity to put myself out there, to be more open to others, and to learn things I never thought I could. More than anything, it taught me the biggest lesson of all: to dream big, as big as I can, and believe with all my heart that my dream(s) will come true, that anything is possible.
I did not go into it hoping to win, honestly. I just hoped I get to learn more and more. I was happy with what I had, I was happy to know the people I got to know, to do what I got to do, to laugh, to be able to get along, to love, and be loved among others. Being able to do that after 3 short months transferring from a small community college to a significantly bigger one, I was more than satisfied.
It is very true that life is full of unexpected things. Until the moment when they announce the names of the winners, I was still in denial. But I was extremely happy. Much more happy than I could describe, words cannot express that I felt at the moment... I was speechless, literally, for the first time. Tears started rolling down my face for no reason. From that moment, I knew that my life was changed, only for the better.
And it did. I could have never asked for anything more wonderful than the experiences I had that past one year after the day I was crowned. I went from knowing only a few people to knowing many, from being able to do little things to do big things, and to put my dreams into reality. The coolest thing about everything was that I knew I always had someone there to back me up and to support me through every single step of the way. I got to know many people without whom my life would become meaningless.
One year and a few days later, on November 21, 2009, I was once again on that same stage. That time, I was not waiting for my name to be called like the last. I was there to see another dream became reality for another wonderful young lady. I was, again, very happy. I knew that the new queen would have the best experience of her life, I knew that she would get to live every day full of joy, giving all she has and receiving love in return. I knew she would be happy... just as happy as I was.

Two years had passed. Things have changed, but one thing still remains the same: I am changed for the better. Today I know that without those days, I would never have the opportunity to become who I am today. They will always remain as two of the best days of the best experience in the best time of my life.
In only 6 short days, on November 20, 2011, a new queen will be crowned. I am sure she will be greater than any of us. She will represents the Asian community gracefully with all her loving heart... I know that for the fact because I was right there where she will be... The sky is the limit, and she, I'm sure, knows that already.
I want to use this entry to express my appreciation to everyone who had made my dreams come true: my family and my wonderful friends who have stood by my through everything... I also want to congratulate all the girls who are competing this year for their courage, knowledge, and beauty. They are all winners, and they should know that.
To my baby Q Anuja... I just want her to know I am very proud of who she had become. There is no way in the world I can put how I feel about her into words. I hope she knows how special she is, at least to me...
"If you reached for the Moon and fall, you would still have a chance to land among the Stars, and it's totally worth it... Trust me."
